Abstract
S preučitvijo vplivov in pogojev uvedbe posebne faze za pešce magistrsko delo prispeva k iskanju rešitev za bolj varna in pešcem prijazna urbana križišča.

Title:Microsimulation-based analysis of pedestrian scramble crossings and the potential implementation in Slovenia : master thesis
Abstract:
This master’s thesis explores the potential use of diagonal crosswalks and special pedestrian phases as alternative solutions at signalized intersections. It focuses on analyzing the traffic effects of these arrangements and identifying the conditions under which their implementation is beneficial. The introduction includes a review and detailed analysis of international studies, with their findings critically evaluated. Special attention is given to identifying shortcomings and overlooked factors in previous research, which are then included in the further analysis. The core of the thesis comprises microsimulation modeling of a representative intersection using Vissim software, where different pedestrian volumes and their impact on traffic flow and delays were analyzed in detail. Based on the results, critical traffic volumes were determined, indicating when the special pedestrian phase is more effective. The final part presents an analysis of an existing intersection in Ljubljana, where the impact of the special pedestrian phase was tested in actual traffic conditions. By studying the effects and conditions for implementing this phase, the thesis contributes to finding solutions for safer and more pedestrian-friendly urban intersections.
