Abstract
V teoretičnem delu sem raziskovala, zakaj prihaja do teh razlik in kateri elementi v medijih vzbujajo strah in nelagodje. V praktičnem delu diplomskega dela sem podrobno opisala produkcijski proces svojega kratkega animiranega filma Naslikani opazovalci od začetne ideje, oblikovanja likov in scenografije do animacije, snemanja zvoka in končne montaže.

Title:PSYCHOLOGY OF FEAR: Analysis of key elements that evoke feelings of fear in horror films and animations
Abstract:
In my thesis, I explored the horror genre as a form that evokes highly varied responses: some people are drawn to it, while others are repelled. In the theoretical part, I examined the reasons behind these differing reactions and identified the media elements that provoke fear and discomfort. I focused on the roles of color, lighting, sound, and suspense, analyzing how these elements contribute to the atmosphere of horror. Particular attention was given to the concept uncanny valley and its psychological foundations, with reference to Freud’s essay Das Unheimliche. I also investigated the development of analog horror, a subgenre characterized by retro aesthetics and subtle storytelling, often associated with the "found footage" format. In the practical part of the thesis, I provided a detailed overview of the production process of my short animated film The Painted Watchers, including the initial concept, character and set design, animation, sound recording, montage and final editing.
