Abstract
Vzgojiteljice v vrtcih se prej ali slej soočimo s človeškimi zajedavci, ki pa v vrtcu predstavljajo pogost problem, saj povzročajo neprijetno počutje, lahko pa njihova prisotnost pušča tudi hujše zdravstvene posledice. Pomembno je, da vzgojiteljice hitro zaznajo prisotnost zajedavcev med otroki in znajo ustrezno ukrepati. Ključnega pomena je, da se o tem pridobiva znanje ter ozavešča tako vzgojiteljice kot tudi starše (ti imajo pomembno vlogo pri prepoznavanju in odstranjevanju zajedavcev) in otroke. V teoretičnem delu diplomske naloge smo s pomočjo literature opredelili in predstavili najpogostejše človeške zajedavce, ki se pojavljajo v slovenskih vrtcih. Opisali smo, kako ravnati ob njihovi prisotnosti in kakšno je priporočljivo preventivno ravnanje za zaščito pred njimi. S pomočjo empiričnega dela pa smo raziskali pogostost pojavljanja najpogostejših človeških zajedavcev v vrtcih v Sloveniji, njihovo razširjenost med otroki, sezonskost, prenosljivost, pristope vzgojiteljic ob njihovem pojavu, ter kako dobro prepoznavajo nekatere zajedavce predšolski otroci in kako natančni so pri higieni rok. Z zajedavci v vrtcih, ki so prisotni med otroki, je namreč neposredno povezana higiena rok. V empiričnem delu smo izvedli anketo 489 vzgojiteljev iz različnih vrtcev v Sloveniji in intervjuvali skupino predšolskih otrok, starih 5-6 let, otroke smo opazovali tudi pri umivanju rok. Celostna analiza rezultatov je pokazala, da so človeški zajedavci v slovenskih vrtcih resen izziv, ki zahteva sodelovanje vseh prisotnih – vzgojiteljev, staršev in otrok. Le s skupnim trudom in doslednim upoštevanjem preventivnih ukrepov lahko zmanjšamo pojavnost okužb ter zagotovimo varno in zdravo okolje za otroke v vrtcih. Najpogosteje se pojavljajo uši, podančice in klopi. Te so prepoznali tudi nekateri otroci, kar smo ugotovili na podlagi intervjuja s predšolskimi otroki. Po večini otroci zajedavce sicer res poznajo, vendar imajo pogosto napačne predstave o tem, kaj zajedavci so in kako se prenašajo. Z diplomsko nalogo želimo izboljšati ozaveščenost o zajedavcih v vrtcu. Delo je lahko v pomoč predvsem vzgojiteljicam pri prepoznavanju najpogostejših človeških zajedavcev v vrtcih, saj podaja smernice za preprečevanje in omejevanje njihovega širjenja. Diplomska naloga je pomemben prispevek k razvoju stroke, saj so vse uporabne informacije o tematiki zbrane na enem mestu.

Title:Presence of Human Parasites in Kindergartens
Abstract:
Preschool teachers in kindergartens inevitably encounter human parasites, which are a common problem in preschool environments. Parasites not only cause discomfort but may also lead to severe health issues. It is crucial for preschool teachers to quickly detect their presence among children and know how to respond appropriately. Raising awareness and providing education regarding parasites is important for teachers and parents (who play a key role in identifying and removing parasites) as well as for children. The theoretical part of this thesis uses literature review to identify and present the most prevalent human parasites found in Slovenian kindergartens. It outlines appropriate response protocols and recommended preventive measures against them. In the empirical part, we investigated the frequency, prevalence, seasonality, and transmissibility of common human parasites in Slovenian kindergartens. We also assessed teachers' response strategies, children's ability to recognize common parasites, and their hand hygiene practices—a factor directly linked to parasite transmission among preschoolers… The empirical data was obtained through a survey of preschool teachers working in various kindergartens across Slovenia, as well as through interviews and direct behavioral observations of preschool children aged 5–6 years. Comprehensive analysis revealed that human parasites represent a serious challenge in Slovenian kindergartens, that requires the collaborative intervention from all stakeholders—kindergarten teachers, parents, and children. Only through coordinated efforts and strict adherence to preventive measures we reduce infection rates and ensure a safe and healthy environments for children in kindergartens. The most commonly encountered parasites were head lice, pinworms, and ticks–parasites that some preschool children could identify during interviews. While most children are familiar with parasites, they often held misconceptions about parasite characteristics are and how they spread. This thesis aims to enhance awareness of parasitic infestations in kindergarten settings. It offers practical guidance for preschool teachers to identify common human parasites in preschool environments and provides evidence-based guidelines for prevention and containment. By consolidating essential information on parasitic identification, transmission, and management in a single resource, this work is an important contribution to support health practices in early childhood education.
