Abstract

Title:Radio and other audio practices amongst youth
Abstract:
In the past decades, a decline in radio listening has been observed. Children and youth represent a low proportion of (regular) listeners. Simultaneously, radio creators usually do not pay enough attention to young audiences. The shift from radio receivers is mainly happening because of the rise of new technologies and media. Especially noticeable is a shift towards music and podcast streaming platforms. The thesis aims to investigate what audio content young people follow, which ones they find most attractive and where traditional radio ranks among these options. The goal of the thesis is to outline guidelines for further research of audio media practices among young people. This could help to better understand the interests of the youth, and with this, media creators could offer them appropriate and interesting media audio content.
