Abstract
The Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research in Europe FAIR is being constructed and will include the Superconducting Fragment Separator Super-FRS to enable the study of rare isotopes. While the construction is ongoing, research is being done with the existing synchrotron and the FRS fragment separator. The DESPEC (Decay Spectroscopy) and HISPEC-10 (High-resolution In-flight Spectroscopy) experiments will focus on investigating exotic nuclei and their excited states. Decays of exotic nuclei can provide a unique insight into the nuclear structure and present opportunities to evaluate theoretical predictions. Due to the rarity of these exotic nuclei it is imperative to optimize measurements, particularly the operation of germanium gamma-ray detectors. For this purpose, the DEGAS spectrometers include an anti-Compton shield made from BGO modules. These BGO detectors work in an anti-veto mode and remove the Compton continuum from the measured energy spectra. To make the acquired data meaningful, it is essential that we know from which nucleus a given gamma-ray originated. For this reason, HISPEC-10 will include an ion identification detector system that measures the energy loss in a thin slice of silicon and the full kinetic energy of the ion beam. This work presents the development of BGO modules for active shielding of the DEGAS spectrometer, a method for monitoring the beam quality and a prototype for ion beam identification. All three systems have (or are planned) to be used to allow for a more efficient spectroscopy of exotic nuclei at GSI/FAIR.

Title:Detektorji za izboljšano spektroskopijo eksotičnih jeder v centru FAIR
Abstract:
V Evropskem centru za raziskave z antiprotoni in ioni FAIR (angl. Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research) poteka izdelava pospeševalnika z ločevalnikom eksotičnih ionov Super-FRS (angl. V okviru eksperimentov DESPEC (angl. Decay Spectroscopy) in HISPEC-10 (angl. High-resolution In-flight SPECtroscopy 10) preučujemo eksotične izotope in njihova vzbujena stanja. Vsi trije sistemi bodo omogočali lažje in učinkovitejše izvedbe spektroskopskih meritev eksotičnih jeder na GSI/FAIR.
