Abstract

Title:A textile book based on slovenian folklore and fauna
Abstract:
The thesis explores the development of a textile book that combines various techniques of pattern transfer onto fabric. The aim of the research was to examine the depiction of animal motifs in Slovenian folk art and investigate their contemporary interpretations through textile techniques. The theoretical part analyzes the symbolism of animal motifs and their role in Slovenian folk art and traditional crafts, focusing on how these motifs appeared in woodcarving, painting, embroidery, and textile art, reflecting the deep connection between humans and nature. The experimental part included the design and production of the textile book, incorporating techniques such as screen printing, digital printing, manual printing, embroidery, and jacquard weaving. The process involved material research, pattern development, and testing different methods of transferring motifs onto fabric, exploring the possibilities of combining these techniques to create a visually and tactilely cohesive product. The findings show that various textile techniques enable rich interpretations of traditional motifs and offer broad possibilities for contemporary textile design. The project contributes to the preservation of cultural heritage and promotes modern approaches to interpreting folk art in textiles.
