Abstract
Diplomsko delo raziskuje proces ustvarjanja ilustrirane knjige in vlogo ilustracij pri interpretaciji ter obogatitvi besedila. Osrednji cilj dela je bil preučiti preplet vizualnih in besednih elementov, ki skupaj tvorijo celostno pripovedno izkušnjo. Teoretični del analizira pomen ilustracij v knjigah, različne tehnike ilustriranja in vpliv vizualne komunikacije na ciljno skupino. Eksperimentalni del vključuje praktično ustvarjanje ilustrirane knjige, pri čemer so podrobno opisani postopki, kot so izdelava ilustracij, izbor barvne sheme, postavitev besedila ter priprava knjige za tisk. Raziskava potrjuje, da ilustracije bistveno prispevajo k razumevanju zgodbe in bralčevi izkušnji, zlasti pri mladih bralcih. Poudarja, da so ilustracije več kot estetski dodatek, saj omogočajo boljše doživljanje zgodbe, spodbujajo domišljijo in čustveno povezanost z vsebino. Poleg tega raziskava potrjuje, da je uspešno povezovanje besedila in ilustracij ključno za ustvarjanje privlačne knjige. Zaključki diplomskega dela kažejo na pomen ilustracij v literaturi za otroke in mladostnike ter ponujajo vpogled v celoten proces ustvarjanja ilustrirane knjige, ki lahko služi kot smernica prihodnjim ustvarjalcem – avtorjem in oblikovalcem – na tem področju.

Title:From words to images in process of creating an illustrated book
Abstract:
The diploma thesis examines the process of creating an illustrated book and the role of illustrations in interpreting and enriching the text. The main aim of the thesis is to explore the interplay between visual and textual elements, which together create a cohesive narrative experience. The theoretical part analyses the meaning of illustrations in books, different illustration techniques and the effect of visual communication on the target audience. The experimental part deals with the practical creation of an illustrated book and in detail describes procedures such as the creation of illustrations, the choice of colour scheme, the placement of text and the preparation of the book for printing. The research confirms that illustrations significantly contribute to the understanding of the story and the reading experience, especially for young readers. It emphasises that illustrations are more than just an aesthetic addition, as they enable a better experience of the story and stimulate the imagination and emotional connection to the content. The study also confirms that the successful integration of text and illustrations is the key to an attractive book. The conclusions of the diploma thesis point to the importance of illustrations in children’s and young adult literature and offer an insight into the entire process of creating an illustrated book, which can serve as a guide for future authors and creators in this field.
