Abstract

Title:Comparison of industrial drying with zeolite or silica gel
Abstract:
Zeolite and silica gel are two of the most frequently used agents for drying and moisture absorption in industry and general applications. However, their technical properties and use methods cannot be entirely equated—each agent has its place in different applications. Zeolite is more suitable for use in environments with higher temperatures and lower humidity, particularly in more demanding microclimatic conditions. It represents an excellent choice for drying various gaseous media, as it can bind specific molecules from gas mixtures. Meanwhile, the widely available and cost-effective silica gel granules are an attractive choice for manufacturers and retailers worldwide. In addition to these positive attributes, they offer high water adsorption capacity at lower temperatures, combined with simpler regeneration than zeolite. This thesis primarily focuses on the description and comparison of different methods of water binding based on the type of adsorption agent, thereby presenting the advantages and disadvantages of both agents and the various possibilities and effectiveness of their use.

Keywords:Zeolite, silica gel, adsorption, moisture binding, gas mixtures, specific conditions, temperature, affordability.
