Abstract

Abstract:
The prostitution is an activity in which a person offers sexual services and receives payment for it. The reasons for such a decision depend on the individual’s situation. The most common reasons are economic and social status and the search for independence. In Slovenia, the legal regulation of prostitution is written in the Protection of public order act, and is also regulated by the Criminal Code. In Slovenia, prostitution is decriminalized, but prohibited in public places. Prostitution has developed over time, which is why various forms have emerged, such as street and residential prostitution, brothels, nightclubs, and in some cities across Europe there are famous red light districts, which show the contrast between different legal regulations. Prostitution also touches on some sciences, where it is worth mentioning eroticism and feminism, which in some respects touch on prostitution. In Slovenija, the Ključ Association deals with the topic of prostitution, offering help to people who are in need due to prostitution.
