The aim of the thesis was to design a new visual identity for a Slovenian artist Vazz, ensuring its adaptability across various platforms, with a primary focus on merchandise. The new identity was designed to align with the artist’s evolving musical direction, serving as a representation of his brand, artistic persona, and personal identity. With the upcoming new projects, the need for a refreshed visual identity became almost necessary.
The research process involved an in-depth analysis of the client and his current identity, the music market, target audience, and the use of color palettes in contemporary visual branding. We briefly outlined our inspiration for the new visual identity and the printing methods used in 19th century books. The design process was carried out using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. The first step was selecting typography that resonated with old printed books, followed by modifications to ensure uniqueness. Textures were then applied to both the logo and secondary element. We also decided on primary typography.
As a result of this research, a new, versatile visual identity was developed, providing the artist with a strong foundation for future projects. The redesigned identity not only reflects the evolution of the artist, but also allows for greater flexibility in branding and merchandise design. The new identity ensures a cohesive and recognizable visual presence, reinforcing the artist’s image across different platforms while remaining adaptable to future creative directions.
