Abstract

Title:Parental cooperation after divorce
Abstract:
In my dissertation, I am doing a research on Parental cooperation after divorce. I am researching whether parents are more or less engaded in the lives of their children after divorce. The second topic is researching if there were any conflicts between parents and how they experienced and solved those conflicts. I also did a research on how parents managed and discussed on how they wanted their children to be raised and how much each of them is going to take care of the children. The last important topic I did a research on is cooperation between parents with social workers and cooperation between them after being in a new relationship. In my review of the problem, I am writing about the definition of a family and parenthood at first, following with a divorce and how are parents staying in contact with their children. I am also writing how Department for social services is playing a big part in children lives after divorce and on reorganization of the family itself. In the empirical part of my dissertation, I did an interview with seven different divorced parents. My questions mostly consisted of earlier mentioned parental cooperation after divorce. Qualitative research is showing, how parents managed to cooperate after divorce, because divorce itself is a really big change in lives of the whole family. That is why communication and cooperation in parenting is of big importance. I did a research on how parents experienced the whole coparenting situation and what challenges they faced along the way. The results of my research are showing that good communication and good coparenting is really important for the whole family, especially for children. They are also showing that in most cases, coparenting and good communication between parents is not good, but they are trying really hard to make it work for their children.
