In the diploma thesis titled Fashion Editorial with Starting Point in Personal History, we explored the preparation and execution of a fashion editorial photo shoot rooted in personal history and Slovenian cultural heritage. The aim of the diploma thesis was to understand the process of organizing, executing, and editing photographs created in the fashion editorial production. The goal was to apply the theoretical knowledge gained to produce eight photographs forming a series that narrates a story through a fashion editorial. In the theoretical part, we learned what is fashion photography and its subgenres. Through the study of five fashion photographers, we learned about their work processes, which later guided us in realization of our project. In the experimental part, we reviewed a family photo archive used as a reference for concept creation. We then organized the photo shoot based on the concept, finding and preparing necessary clothing pieces, locations, and props for the sets, and deciding on the equipment and lighting that we used. Once everything was prepared, we conducted the photo shoot. Finally, we selected and edited the photographs, resulting in eight photographs that represent a fashion editorial about personal history with elements of our cultural heritage. This process equipped us with the necessary knowledge for independently production of fashion photography.
