This master's thesis describes the development and realization of a sustainable collection of clothes called Exploring the Ice age.
The theoretical part presents a research of the rise of loungewear clothes, sports and their impact on fashion and the fashion industry. It presents the purpose of strictly functional clothing like diving suits and clothes for polar expeditions. At the same time it describes the importance of multifunctional clothes as one of the solutions for sustainable designs which were key in developing and designing my collection.
The experimental part shows the development of a multifunctional collection of clothes that is partly made from waste pieces of clothing.
The result of the thesis is a contemporary, ready-to-wear, unisex collection, inspired by strictly functional clothing, for which I found inspiration in clothes that are meant to protect the body and various examples of multi – purpose, sustainable clothing from other designers.
