Abstract

Abstract:
This master's thesis presents the activity of Trio Lorenz ensemble through their entire existence from 1954 to 2007. Violoncellist Matija (born in 1938), pianist Primož (born in 1942, died in 2007) and violinist Tomaž Lorenz (born in 1944, died in 2016) grew up in a musical family and graduated from the Academy of Music in Ljubljana; they also completed their master courses in Italy. They established Trio Lorenz in 1954 at Music School Ljubljana Vič -Rudnik where their mentor was prof. Matija Tercelj. Not only does their repertoire include the most important world trios, but also numerous works by Slovene composers. Many of them dedicated their compositions to the Lorenz brothers and they premièred 26 of those. Trio Lorenz achieved critical acclaim in Slovenian and foreign newspapers.
