The following thesis represents the life of Danilo Bučar, a man who influenced the music sphere of the past century. He was born in Črnomelj in the family of musicians and spent early life in Novo mesto. There he studied music with Ignacij Hladnik at the grammar school, both through the curriculum and in private. As a student he founded and led a student salon orchestra, Sokol tamburitza orchestra and many vocal quartets. He studied in the field of pharmacy and in the younger age the music was only a hobby for him. Between 1919 and 1921 he worked in Jesenice where he joined the local theater, and there he soon established and led the orchestra and mixed choir. One of his greatest contributions to Slovene music represents the time of his co-founding of the Šentjakob Theater and later working there. His greatest influence was set in the field of choral music with arrangements of folk songs and his own compositions; he also mentored several vocal ensembles. Over two hundred choral-, five musical- and theater-, three orchestral- and twelve chamber- and solo compositions are preserved in his legacy.
