Abstract
Trije tipi prenove korespondirajo s stopnjo ruševine. Nove intervencije, vstavljene v gabarite obstoječih ruševin, ustvarijo prostore za bivanje, skupnost in delo.

Title:
Society in ruins – Conceptual design for the renovation and revitalisation of the abandoned village Slapnik : magistrsko delo
Abstract:
The master thesis deals with the abandoned village of Slapnik in the northern part of the Goriška brda region as a potential place for the creation and residence of a new community. The formerly wealthy farming village was left to decay after the process of depopulation, as the residents left to seek an easier urban life. Overgrown farmland and dilapidated buildings are all that remain of what was once an idyllic village, but among the ruins, one can still find quality elements of Brisk architecture. The location offers an ideal setting for revitalisation and the creation of a new community in close relation to nature. Three types of renovation correspond to the stage of the ruin. New interventions, inserted into the footprint of the existing ruins, create spaces for living, community and work. In the process of revitalisation, the terraced gardens on the north side of the village and the fruit orchard on the south side are re-established. The paths through the village are restored, and the structures overgrown with greenery are cleared only as much as is necessary for the safety and undisturbed use of the buildings. A space for contemporary forms of living is created, without losing the spirit of the ruin.
