Abstract

Title:The impact of changing climate elements on the flow of the Sora in the period 1961–2020
Abstract:
Climate change is a topic that is becoming increasingly important in our daily lives. The consequences of changes affect the activities and decisions of individuals as well as the actions of society as a whole, which is why they are given more and more attention. Among the most important indicators of climate change is the trend of rising air temperature, which results in a greater amount of moisture in the atmosphere, ultimately affecting changes in precipitation patterns. This can, for instance, be observed in the more frequent occurrence of extreme precipitation events and the resulting higher flood risk. In my research, I focused on analysing the influence of certain climate elements on the flow of the Sora River. Most of the data was obtained from the Environmental Agency of the Republic of Slovenia (ARSO), and analyzed using the SPSS statistical program. The analysis results showed only a slight correlation between the changes in average air temperature and the minimum flow of the river (Qnk), but there is a greater correlation when compared with medium (Qs) and high periodic flow (Qvk). Comparing annual and autumn precipitation amounts revealed minimal correlation with the minimum river flow. A stronger correlation was observed in the connection of the amount of annual and autumn precipitation with the medium and high flows of the Sora River. On the other hand, the comparison of the height of the snow cover showed a slightly greater correlation with the minimum river flow.
