This thesis analyses two works by the Serbian writer Borislav Pekić: the novel Hodočašće Arsenija Njegovana (1970) and the collection of short texts Pisma iz tuđine (in three publications: 1987, 1989, 1991). The sociopolitical context in which both works were created is crucial for their understanding, as the sociopolitical situation profoundly shaped not only their creation but also their content. As Pekić was an author who wrote during the shift from (Yugoslavian) modernism to postmodernism, we will identify the defining features of both literary movements in the novel and classify the genre of the letters in this collection of short texts.
