Abstract
Raziskujemo problem določanja prelomnih točk v segmentirani regresiji. Segmentirana regresija, sestavljena iz več zaporednih linearnih faz, se pogosto uporablja za opisovanje sprememb trendov in modeliranje nelinearnih povezav. Čeprav obstaja več metod za izvedbo segmentirane regresije, njihova primerjalna učinkovitost ostaja večinoma neraziskana, kar pušča vrzeli v razumevanju njihovih relativnih prednosti in uporabnosti. Ta disertacija ocenjuje metode za ocenjevanje ene ali več prelomnih točk v regresijskih modelih in predlaga nov pristop, ki je ocenjen s simulacijskimi študijami ter prikazan s primerjavami na podlagi simuliranih podatkov. Študija razširja metode zaznavanja prelomnih točk v segmentirani regresiji na beta in kvantilne regresijske modele. Poleg tega je raziskava uporabila vpoglede, pridobljene iz simulacijskih analiz, za analizo realnih podatkov iz zbirke SLOfit, ki preučuje trende telesne pripravljenosti slovenskih otrok v obdobju od leta 1989 do 2019. Kvantilna regresija razkriva spremembe v različnih percentilih telesne pripravljenosti, medtem ko beta regresija služi kot občutljivostni test. Segmentirana regresija identificira strukturne spremembe v trendih telesne pripravljenosti, kar ponuja potencial za podatkovno podprte vpoglede, ki bi lahko podprli oblikovanje politik na področju javnega zdravja.

Title:Determining the changepoints in segmented regression
Abstract:
We investigate the problem of determining changepoints in segmented regression. Segmented regression, composed of several continuous linear phases, is often used to describe changes in trends and to model non-linear associations. While several methods exist for implementing segmented regression, their comparative performance remains largely unexplored, leaving gaps in understanding their relative strengths and applications. This thesis evaluates methods for estimating single or multiple changepoints in regression models, proposing novel approach that are assessed through simulation studies and illustrated with comparisons using simulated datasets. This study extends changepoint detection methods in segmented regression to beta and quantile regression models. Furthermore, the study used insights gained from simulation analasyes to real-world data from the SLOfit database, examining trends in the physical fitness of Slovenian children from 1989 to 2019. The use of quantile regression reveals changes across fitness percentiles, while beta regression acts as a sensitivity check. Segmented regression identifies structural changes in physical fitness trend with potental to offering data-driven insights that could support policymaking in public health.
