Abstract

Title:Development of a combined gamma-neutron spectrometer based on the RedPitaya platform
Abstract:
Advancements in scintillator materials and semiconductor electronics have enabled the development of compact and high-performance spectrometers for ionizing radiation detection. In this master's thesis, we developed a cost-effective combined gamma-neutron spectrometer based on a CLYC scintillator crystal and a Zynq system- on-chip. We designed and implemented the entire system, including an analog signal processing chain, FPGA-based real-time data processing, and methods for gamma- neutron discrimination. Measurement results demonstrated that the system successfully detects and analyzes radiation and has potential for further optimization. The developed system provides a foundation for the development of a low-cost combined spectrometer that could be used in various applications, such as monitoring nuclear reactions in reactors, nuclear security, radiation physics research, and cosmic ray analysis, contributing to a better understanding of high-energy particles from space.
