Access to information is crucial for the equal integration of everyone in society, which is made up of different individuals, some of whom have disabilities, including blindness and the visually impairment. The media play a central role in informing the public about socially important issues. The aim of this master's thesis was to examine the accessibility of media content for blind and visually impaired individuals in Slovenia and to determine to what extent modern language technologies enable them to be fully informed about social developments through the media. In the empirical part of the research, we focused on RTV Slovenia and conducted a semi-structured interview with the head of its accessibility service and prepared a questionnaire which was completed by 52 members of the Association of the Blind and Visually Impaired of Slovenia. The key findings show that RTV Slovenia provides adequate accessibility of television content for the blind and visually impaired through adaptations such as audio descriptions and subtitles on the audio channel, but that its users would like to see an even wider range of programmes and films so equipped.
