This master’s thesis discusses the yoga terminology used in English and Slovenian materials as well as among Slovenian yoga practitioners. The first part of the thesis introduces the foundations of yoga practice and its development, and it then continues with an overview of Sanskrit and linguistic approaches to its transliteration, adaptation, and translation. A two-part analysis follows. First, it presents the results of the selected written material and a commentary on the accompanying glossary. Second, it summarizes the findings of the questionnaire on yogic language use. Finally, in the conclusion, two hypotheses are partially confirmed and one is fully confirmed.
