In the thesis »Video production of a promotional video for a tourist agency« we described in detail the process of making a promotional video for the Tourist Agency of Palma. The purpose of making the video was to increase the visibility of the Tourist Agency of Palma and to present part of the tourist program of the Pearls of Andalusia for all future clients.
In the theoretical part, we presented basic concepts such as the definition of a video, frame, plan, type of plans, and shots that every filmmaker should know. Then, in theory, we explained the process of making a video or film in different parts. The first part is preparation, where we made a story, script, shooting book, and shooting plan. We also considered the montage of scenes in the film and lighting. Then there is the video capture called production, where we thought well about the placement of the camera in the room, the placement of the subject according to the rules of the golden section, the amount of space in the direction of the subject's movement and the dimming or changing of the viewing angle. Post-production is the final step where we process all the recorded material in video editing software and add various special effects, sound effects, and music. We used a studio version of DaVinci Resolve to edit the promotional video.
We changed the shooting schedule several times due to bad weather conditions. As a result, we produced three different shooting schedules. Also, due to the second correction, the length of the shoot was changed, and we produced another recording book for a shorter promotional shoot. The result could have been much better if we had contacted the tourist agency already in Slovenia, borrowed more recording equipment, and had a larger recording crew. However, given the circumstances, we believe that the result is a good demonstration of the effort and drive of the young cinematographer. It is also a good example of the saying »where the will is the way«, as we only recorded the desired result in the third attempt.
