Abstract
Diplomska naloga primerja zmogljivost mobilnih omrežij v Sloveniji s pomočjo orodja iPerf3 in spletnega orodja Speedtest.net pri različnih mobilnih operaterjih v različnih okoljih. Meritve so bile izvedene statično na različnih lokacijah v Ljubljani in Radovljici ter v gibanju na železniški povezavi med Ljubljano in Radovljico. Za pridobitev podatkov so bili uporabljeni mobilni telefon Samsung Galaxy S22, prenosni računalnik Dell in trije različni iPErf3 strežniki. Testi so vključevali merjenje hitrosti prenosa podatkov pri UDP in TCP povezavi, zakasnitve in izgube paketov pri UDP povezavi. Analiza rezultatov omogoča oceno kakovosti storitev operaterjev in stabilnosti njihovih povezav. iPerf3 je bil uporabljen kot ključno orodje za testiranje omrežne prepustnosti, pri čemer so bili testi izvedeni s tremi različnimi strežniki (v Sloveniji, Nemčiji in ZDA). Posebna pozornost je bila namenjena različnim številom vzporednih tokov in primerjavi med protokoloma TCP in UDP. Rezultati meritev kažejo, da se zmogljivost mobilnih omrežij razlikuje glede na operaterja, lokacijo in čas merjenja.

Title:Testing mobile network performance
Abstract:
The diploma thesis compares the performance of mobile networks in Slovenia using the iPerf3 tool and the online tool Speedtest.net for different mobile operators in various environments. Measurements were conducted statically at different locations in Ljubljana and Radovljica, as well as in motion on the railway connection between Ljubljana and Radovljica. To collect data, a Samsung Galaxy S22 mobile phone, a Dell laptop, and three different iPerf3 servers were used. The tests included measuring data transfer speeds for UDP and TCP connections, latency, and packet loss in UDP connections. The analysis of the results provides an assessment of the quality of service offered by operators and the stability of their connections. iPerf3 was used as the key tool for testing network throughput, with tests conducted using three different servers (in Slovenia, Germany, and the USA). Special attention was given to the impact of different numbers of parallel streams and the comparison between TCP and UDP protocols. The measurement results indicate that the performance of mobile networks varies depending on the operator, location, and time of measurement.
