Abstract
Tretje največje mesto v državi ima glavno avtobusno in železniško postajališče na dveh medsebojno oddaljenih lokacijah v razdalji 1,5km. To je ena izmed posledic neuporabe javnega prevoza v mestu od koder se veliko ljudi vozi tudi v druge občine v državi na delo. Območje železniškega postajališča ima velike degradirane površine. S teoretično analitičnim delom naloge se osredotočam predvsem na zgodovinske značilnosti mesta, umeščenost železnice in železniške postaje znotraj le-tega ter migracije prebivalcev ter mobilnostne navade ljudi. Naloga se osredotoča tudi na prostorsko planiranje v regiji na ravni države in Mestne občine Kranj. Nova zasnova predvideva združitev železniškega in avtobusnega postajališča v enoten potniški center. Urbanistična zasnova območja se osredotoča na naravne danosti (reke Save in Šmarjetne gore) ter logistično navezljivost območja z mestom. Posvečamo se predvsem dobri pretočnosti znotraj območja, ki omogoča vsem oblikam mobilnosti (kolo, peš, avto in mestni prevoz) dobro navezljivost s preostalimi predeli mesta. Potniški center predstavlja objekt javnega značaja s poudarkom na kvalitetnih zunanjih površinah. Oblikovan je kot nadgradnja obstoječi stavbi, ki s svojo strukturo lahkotno posega v prostor. Odprti prostori so osrednji komunikator med programi, ki se vzpostavijo na območju. Območje potniškega centra tako postane ne le logistični center oblik javnega prevoza, vendar ga s pripadajočimi stavbami nadgradimo v prostor kulturnih, pisarniških in storitvenih dejavnosti.

Title:
Concept Design of Kranj Central Bus and Train Station
Abstract:
Third largest city in the country has a main bus and train station at two locations 1.5 km apart. This is one of the consequences of not using public transport in the city, from where many people also travel to other municipalities in the country to work. The area of the train station has large degraded areas. With the theoretical analytical part of the thesis, I focus mainly on the historical characteristics of the city, the location of the railway and the train station within it, as well as the migration of residents and people’s mobility habits. The thesis also focuses on spatial planning in the region at the state level and the City Municipality of Kranj. The new design envisages the merger of the railway and bus station into a single passenger center. The urban design of the area focuses on the natural features (the Sava river and Šmarjetna gora) and the logistical connectivity of the area with the city. We focus primarily on good fluidity within the area, which allows all forms of mobility (bicycle, foot, car and urban transport) to be well connected to the rest of the city. The passenger center is a public facility with an emphasis on high-quality exterior surfaces. It is designed as an extension of the existing building, which with its structure easily interferes with the space. Open spaces are the central communicator between the programs that are established in the area. The passenger center area thus becomes not only a logistics center for public transport, but with the associated buildings it is upgraded into a space for cultural, office and service activities.
