Introduction: Patient education through various educational activities and interventions is an important component of effective health care. The aim of this study was to investigate the frequency of use of different methods of patient education among Slovenian physiotherapists. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted among physiotherapists registered with the Slovenian Association of Physiotherapy using an online questionnaire. The results were analysed using descriptive statistical methods (frequencies and percentages). Results: A total of 170 respondents opened the questionnaire, 85 of whom completed it in full (response rate = 50 %). The most frequently or always used interventions included verbal or written instructions for therapeutic exercises and counselling or teaching se lfmanagement strategies, followed by patient-centred interventions. Social support counselling was the least frequently used educational intervention. One-on-one counselling with patients and exercise demonstrations were frequently or always used activities. Rarely or never used activities included using biofeedback devices, referring patients to group education sessions, videotaping patients, and providing links to websites. Conclusions: The results show that physiotherapists use a variety of educational activities and interventions. The activities and interventions that are rarely or never used in patient education need further research.
