The mobile service for early family support at home represents a new approach to help families facing various challenging circumstances, requiring customized forms of help and support. Initiated in 2022 with the support of the Faculty of Social Work at the University of Ljubljana, the mobile service operates within the framework of family assistance for home support services at most units of the Gorenjska Social Work Center. In one of the units, the mobile service is structured as a preventive form of support for families facing multiple challenges within the scope of social prevention. The primary objective of the mobile service is to prioritize help and support for families at the social work center. The core goal of family involvement in this service is to ensure and co-create active and planned help and support, empowering families to strengthen their competencies, build resilience, and better cope with challenging situations, and ultimately become capable of addressing their own difficulties and challenges. The mobile service is designed to be flexible and responsive to the immediate needs of families, offering support "here and now". The aim of the master’s thesis was to explore the distinctions between the mobile service and the family assistance service for home, to explore how families are included in the mobile service, its benefits for the participating families, and the challenges faced by professionals working in the mobile service. I conducted a qualitative study among professionals employed at all units of the Gorenjska Social Work Center, who provide both the family assistance service for home and the new form of support known as the mobile service. The findings revealed that the mobile service prioritizes regular and continuous work with families in their homes. This approach gives professionals better insight into the daily lives and interactions of family members, it enables them to identify numerous resources that can offer families new opportunities and possibilities for addressing their difficulties and for developing alternative coping strategies. Families receive support based on their specific needs and preferences as soon as, and for as long as, it is required.
