Abstract

Title:(In)visible paths : How does food arrive in our home and school kitchens?
Abstract:
The article centres on the need for cooperation between educational institutions and between the growers and processors of food in the local environment. The cooperation of educational institutions with farmers in food procurement and in visiting farms indicates the importance of physical and social proximity. In Slovenia the School Scheme project is being implemented, with support from the European Union. Some school kitchens have used green public contracts as a chance to collaborate with local growers. In some places the experiences gained under the Organic School Gardens programme have been received enthusiastically – with the proper organization, this programme supports the education of “a new consumer”, provides opportunities for the development of innovative outdoor classrooms and mor
