We live in a time where the consumption of music as a digital medium is at the forefront of the entertainment industry. Listening to music is becoming increasingly accessible, as we can reach our favorite songs in just a few clicks. As musical artists, we also need to attract listeners visually to play our songs, whether through photos of the band members, album graphics, or by releasing the song in the form of a music video, which is one of the best ways to promote music.
The aim of this thesis was to create a music video for the new song by the band "Spirits of Stygia" titled "Graveyard of Thoughts."
In the theoretical part, we analyzed how the production of music videos in the metal genre has evolved over time. Later we presented the knowledge from film production and music video analysis to establish the basics of music video production theory.
In the experimental part, we presented how we created the music video itself, for which we also borrowed a studio from the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering. This involved creating a screenplay and storyboard, visiting the location and shooting test shots, filming the music video, and finally editing and distributing it. We also highlighted potential obstacles that are usually not considered at the beginning of music video production and typically arise specifically during the filming phase. Based on the theoretical research, we also checked whether our music video adheres to the thematic elements of metal music and the basics of music video production.
