When planning and renovating information systems (hereinafter referred to as IS), contractors have to face many problems, such as the obsolescence of software during IS development, changes in legislation governing the field of IS operations and the appearance of new solutions that were not available or not reliable enough during the initial stages of development.
This thesis includes an analysis of Slovenian legislation in the area of archiving, an analysis of the Act on the Protection of Documentary and Archive Materials and Archives (Zakon o varovanju dokumentarnega in arhivskega gradiva ter arhivih, ZVDAGA), a description of two referendums on ZVDAGA, a comparison with foreign archive regulations, a conversation with the end users of SPIS and KRPAN systems, and a presentation of the developed KRPAN system database prototype with proposed improvements.
Potential vulnerabilities of the Microsoft SQL Server 2017 operating system on which the KRPAN system operates were discovered and presented, ZVDAGA changes and their consequences on archival IS were analyzed.
The content of this thesis can help improve the security of IS KRPAN as well as other systems based on IS Government Connect. The presented prototype can also be used as a model for designing new versions of the same system or developing new systems with similar tasks as IS KRPAN.
The prototype was prepared on the basis of general requirements, so the usability for end users depends on the compatibility of their needs with the mentioned requirements. Further work could focus on the preparation of a limited number of specialized versions of the prototype, adapted to the needs of individual end users, with the aim of identifying irregularities in the design of the prototype.
