In this final thesis we look at the working fundementals of electrical generators and use those as a guide on how to look for bearing faults in small wind turbines. This method of bearing fault detection does not require additional modification of the considered machine making it very suitable for small wind turbines. Considering the measuring equipment that we have at our disposal, we design three different test rigs, build the turbine and take the measurements with undamaged and faulty bearings. The wind turbine operates in a small wind tunnel where the working conditions can be adjusted. For reference, we also take vibration measurements of the bearing housing. The results are then further processed in a program environment. The results are displayed in time and frequency domains and comparative analysis is made.
