Abstract

Title:Reinterpretation of identity - Urbanism, sketch and the context of Vipava
Abstract:
The Bachelor’s thesis studies the traditional elements which are architectural and urbanistical in nature, thus are also terminologically defined. The urbanistical solution presented through the final plan explores the ever growing process of “no-space” and what is a healthy human environment. Among paramount importance are the analysis of historical, traditional elements and their reinterpretation for a modern world in the conceptualized new part of Vipava, locally known under the name Frnaža. The primary aim of this Bachelor’s thesis is to present an alternative use for the central space of Vipava. The secondary aim of the work is to initiate awareness of the peculiarity of all such spaces (examplified by Frnaža in Vipava). With acknowledging our natural environment as well as our history we may produce a sensible and modern human habitat. The result of my work is a theoretical building plan which integrates the existing and new neighbourhoods into a coherent whole, adapting to preserve quality of life and forming an effective system to combat the extreme weather conditions of the given area.
