Abstract
V magistrskem delu sem analizirala skupno pet italijanskih prevodov (dva sinhronizirana prevoda DUB2003 in DUB2014 ter tri podnaslovljene SUB2003, SUB2014 in SUB2021) japonskega animiranega filma Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi.

Title:Comparative analysis of audiovisual translation on the example of the animated film Sen to Chihiro no kamikakushi
Abstract:
In my master thesis I analysed a total of five Italian translations (two dubbed translations DUB2003 and DUB2014 and three subtitled SUB2003, SUB2014 and SUB2021) of the Japanese animated film Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi. The comparative analysis focuses on the translation differences that emerged in three linguistic elements: culture-bound expressions, personal names and courtesy suffixes. The first half of the theoretical part consists of a description and definition of the process of translation, focusing on the translation and definition of cultural expressions and personal proper names. The first chapter describes the taxonomy according to Jan Pedersen (2011), which is aimed at the translation of cultural expressions in subtitled translation and which was used in the empirical part as a criterion to analyse the frequencies of the translation strategies used in each translation. In the second half of the theoretical part, Audio Visual Translation (AVT) is defined in more detail, focusing on the process and principles of subtitling and dubbing. The empirical part of the thesis includes a brief description of the film and the response to the first and second Italian translations (in 2003 and 2014). The empirical part includes a comparative analysis of the five translations and the peculiarities encountered in the translation of culture-bound expressions, personal proper names and polite suffixes. The taxonomy of Pedersen (2011) was chosen as a criterion for the classification of translation strategies.
