The thesis addresses Czech and Slovenian phraseological material with the component of animal names and compares them. The aim is to identify the parallels or differences found in Slovenian and Czech phraseology. The theoretical part presents phraseology as a linguistic discipline and its basic terminology, based on the professional literature of Czech and Slovenian linguists. The practical part contains an analysis of the material, obtained first by listing Czech phrases with the component of animal names, provided in the »Slovník české frazeologie a idiomatiky«, and by searching for their Slovenian equivalents in the »Slovar slovenskih frazemov«, the »Slovar slovenskega knjižnega jezika«, or the vocabulary of a native Slovenian speaker. In addition to dictionary material, some examples of everyday language use are included in Czech, although they are not part of the dictionary. Based on the analysis at the formal and semantic levels, conclusions are drawn about the extent to which the phrases in Czech and Slovenian are equivalent. It is expected that these two Slavic languages have many phrases in common.
