The focus of this thesis is the Principality of Moldova in the light of historical climatology, more specifically, in the context of the Maunder Minimum. It discusses the weather and climate in the principality in that period because of its location on the crossroads of influential empires and the on periphery of Europe, which puts it in a unique position. The thesis deals with the influences of weather and climate on the economic and demographic situation. It analyzes three Moldovan chronicles, and, factoring in the aforementioned circumstances, it contextualizes the results, taking into account insights from the literature. It also presents the framework of the Little Ice Age.
