Abstract

Title:The impact of E-health literacy on trust in doctors
Abstract:
The trend of seeking health information online has seen a massive increase in recent years, though the quality and understanding of such content remain questionable. E-health literacy is therefore of great importance today, enabling individuals to navigate the flood of information to find what is relevant for them and to comprehend it. E-health literacy also plays a key role in the relationship between patients and doctors, as it facilitates better communication and, consequently, a higher level of trust. Through my thesis, I aimed to explore how e-health literacy affects trust in doctors, analyzing data collected through an online questionnaire conducted as part of the project Opportunities and Risks of Online Health Communities for Healthcare (slo. Priložnosti in nevarnosti spletnih zdravstvenih skupnosti za zdravstvo). While e-health literacy can increase trust in doctors, it also poses risks for patients due to the volume and accuracy of information, as well as digital inequality. My data analysis revealed that certain dimensions of e-health literacy influence trust in doctors, but e-health literacy as a whole does not have a direct impact.
