The thesis focuses on biodiversity in the urban environment, using the example of a new planned residential neighbourhood in Ježica, Ljubljana. The residential neighbourhood was initially planned taking into account the analyses that were carried out to design the main axis. After all the buildings had been located and the routes had been laid out, the public spaces and green areas began to take shape. With this work, after reading the literature, I started to place the biodiversity elements in the neighbourhood. The main principle of siting is based on providing green elements in the city and creating habitat for diff erent species of animals. To achieve this principle, measures such as the planting of native tree species (black alder, oak, beech, lime, etc.), honey-bearing plants to encourage urban beekeeping, the siting of two new ponds and an orchard, and the preservation of the tree line were implemented. We are attracting animals such as domestic and fi eld sparrows, great tit, mother-in-law, fi nch, plover, blackbird, kingfi sher, cha ffi nch, magpie. Community gardens and a horse area are maintained in the neighbourhood to encourage both local production and the preservation of the natural value of the area, as it is currently an undeveloped area. The focus of the task is on placing green elements in public and private spaces to make the neighbourhood greener and to pro-vide habitat for animal species. This is to achieve coexistence between man and animals.
