Abstract
Slikopisi so opremljeni z vizualnim in besedilnim kodom.

Title:Rebus - A Means of Child Empowerment
Abstract:
The master's thesis initially discusses the multimodal text form – rebus and all its characteristics, dimensions, and elements that appear in it to convey health information to hospitalized children at the Pediatric Clinic at the University Medical Centre Ljubljana. In addition to discussing and exploring the rebus multimodal form, the thesis also explores the topics of visual perception, literacy, and the design of visual communications in the pediatric space. The thesis proposes to better define the use and characteristics of the rebus as a means of conveying health information to pediatric patients. The broader purpose of the theoretical section of the master's thesis is an understanding of perception, reception, and interpretation of information to understand how we apply this knowledge when creating a rebus. Meanwhile, the narrower purpose of the theoretical section is a study of visual perception, literacy (literacy in general and visual and medical literacy), multimodal texts, the rebus texts, and the design of visual communications in healthcare, specifically in pediatrics. The purpose of the practical section is to define and describe the production of five rebus booklets containing health content whose characteristics are based on previously read literature and studies. The rebuses contain a visual and textual code. The visual code includes illustrations in a typical rebus form and illustrations that summarize and additionally explain the visually fragmented events and processes in the text. The text code includes the text written by health workers at the Pediatric Clinic of the University Medical Centre Ljubljana. The thesis aims to produce five rebuses in the form of booklets that convey medical information to hospitalized children in the most effective way that they can.
