My master thesis explores the synaesthesia between photography, music and dance. I have been working on this topic for a few years now, especially from the point of view of the influence of music on the sense of trance during listening and dancing. Music plays an extremely important role in my life, and I want to share and represent this experience through a visual medium.
In the theoretical part of the thesis, I study the physical properties of water, body, movement, dance and sound. It involves exploring the ripples of water through the integration of three media: photography (light), music (sound) and dance (body). A common characteristic of all three artistic practices is the presence of ripples, fluidity, rhythm, pulsation, growth and decline.
The theoretical part of the thesis will deal with the physical basis of the selected artistic media and the foundations of perception and cognition of these phenomena. It will also include systematic comparative analyses of artistic practices carried out in the interplay of photography, sound and movement, and an analysis of conceptual starting points as a basis for the development of one's own artistic practice.
In the practical part of the thesis, I will explore the influence of music and dance on the physical and psychological state of the individual, expressing the perception of the sensation of the wave through the visual medium.
The aim of the master thesis is to demonstrate and analyse the common feature of sound and movement rippling through the visual medium by exploring all three artistic media: photography, music and dance. By focusing on the analysis of artistic practices, I intend to identify similarities and differences between them, to understand authorial practices and to establish and build upon my own artistic practice.
The aim of the master thesis is to conduct an overview of the authorial practices, an analysis of these practices, a conceptual definition of my own artistic practice, and a short dance film.
