Abstract
Organizacija tovrstnih prireditev zaradi svojega odnosa do prostora in družbe škoduje lokalnemu okolju in hkrati negativno vpliva na življenjske pogoje prebivalcev. Preko združevanja obstoječega festivalskega programa, novih tipologij turističnega bivanja in programov skupnosti ohranjam in aktiviram javni prostor, ki postane kraj srečevanja turistov in lokalnih prebivalcev. Nova programska ureditev zmanjšuje sezonskost turistične destinacije, spoštuje lokalne vrednote ter oblikuje skupnost med uporabniki prostora.

Title:
Renovation of the Former Hotel Paradiso and Concept Design of Accomodation Typologies in Sotočje Area in Tolmin - Creating Community through Tourism
Abstract:
In recent years, the Soča Valley has faced a large increase in mass tourism. The current tourist offer only meets the needs of tourists and not the local community - many consequences in the environment are mainly caused by unregulated tourist access and the lack of offer in the winter months. One of the examples of inadequate marketing of tourism in the destination is the degraded area of the former Hotel Paradiso near Sotočje in Tolmin, which is intended for mass festival events during the summer months. The organization of such events, due to its attitude towards space and society, damages the local environment and at the same time negatively affects the living conditions of the inhabitants. With the project, I want to prove that with the help of a thoughtful intervention in a sensitive environment, it is possible to establish a new model of marketing a tourist destination, which would respond to the current issue of the festival offer in Tolmin according to the principles of sustainable tourism. In the new spatial arrangement, I envision tourism and culture programs that, by respecting the history of the location, help to attract visitors to the area throughout the year. By combining the existing festival program, new typologies of tourist accommodation, and community programs, I preserve and activate a public space that becomes a meeting place for tourists and local residents. The new program arrangement reduces the seasonality of the tourist destination, respects local values , and creates a community among the users of the space.
