In our study, we examined the satisfaction of the residents of the Municipality of Domžale with environmental protection factors. The aim is to contribute to environmental policy development in the municipality by identifying key challenges and proposing improvements. We used an online questionnaire to gather data on satisfaction with various environmental protection factors, focusing on air quality, water quality, noise pollution, sustainable mobility, and waste management.
The theoretical part relied on descriptive methods, synthesis method, and analysis of secondary sources such as reports, studies, and scientific articles. The research used an online questionnaire to assess residents' satisfaction with environmental factors. The hypotheses were analysed using descriptive and inferential statistical analysis (T-test).
We found that most residents are satisfied with the factors, particularly water and air quality, and less with sustainable mobility and noise pollution. Satisfaction does not vary by age, education, or gender, and there is a significant correlation between satisfaction with water quality and waste management.
Recommendations for environmental improvements are based on residents' satisfaction analysis. We propose increasing awareness of environmental protection through educational campaigns, installing more waste bins in public areas, especially along the Kamniška Bistrica River, to improve waste management, and preserving greenspaces. Additionally, we recommend enhancing waste management infrastructure with aesthetic communal islands and individual bulky waste collection. For sustainable mobility, we suggest expanding cycling paths and improving public transit. To reduce noise pollution, we recommend consistent implementation of measures namely noise barriers and educating residents on importance of protecting air and water quality.
