The thesis examines the applicability of artificial intelligence as a tool for ensuring a viable planetary future. It highlights the pronounced materiality of AI technology, which in its current form is extremely energy-intensive, and offers suggestions for its reconstruction, defined both epistemologically and materially. For AI technology to be sustainable and capable of sustainable operation, this reconstruction must also include its associated infrastructure and the preceding technologies. The thesis also demonstrates the role of AI technology in realizing the concept of planetary intelligence. In addition, the final part of the thesis presents some practical examples of AI usage that show great potential for the application of this technology in sustainable purposes.
