The Master's thesis focuses on the examination of the directions of development documents in the field
of tourism and their implementation in the spatial context. Development documents (especially tourism
strategies) at the national, regional and local level provide a number of guidelines and objectives for
tourism development, where the spatial realisation of individual interventions depends on various
conditions, such as the provisions of spatial planning acts, sectoral legislation, business interest, land
ownership etc. In the Master's thesis, the feasibility of a strategic level of tourism development within
the provisions of the municipal spatial plan and other implementation conditions was assessed using the
Škofja Loka Municipality as a case study. Based on the assessment of the spatial feasibility of selected
reference projects, we have developed two proposed methodologies for assessing the spatial feasibility
of tourism strategy projects (one for existing strategies and one for new strategies). This should serve in
the future as a tool for assessing the spatial feasibility of existing strategies and as an instrument to help
in the process of developing new strategies. The aim is to ensure that projects do not remain on paper,
but are successfully implemented in practice, thereby increasing the credibility of tourism strategies in
terms of their feasibility in physical environment.
