My thesis deals with housing issues of young people in Slovenia. One of the main problems in the time of transition of young people to adulthood is moving from their family of origin into their own housing, what is very difficult to achieve because of the conditions in the housing market. In Slovenia there is a trend that young people live with their parents much longer than customary. The aim of my thesis is to analyse the problems that young people are facing in searching the solutions of their housing issues. First the key concepts like real estate, housing and types of housing are defined in my thesis. Then I present the role of the state and its housing policy and the measures that Slovenia is trying to regulate the housing issues of young people with. According to the data of Slovenian real estate market I have analysed the housing prices. In my presentation of the housing situation of young people I also used the results of Mladina 2020 research. As conclusion I point out that in Slovenia there is a lack of rental housing, especially a non-profit rental housing and the housing prices are very high. The rise of the housing prices is much faster than the rise of young people's incomes, so the gap between the two is widening.
