Abstract

Title:Impact of artificial intelligence on the work of radiographers: collaboration or replacement? : diploma work
Abstract:
Introduction: Artificial intelligence is a field of computer science that deals with creating intelligent machines capable of performing tasks that would otherwise require human intelligence. It utilizes various approaches such as machine learning, deep learning, logical reasoning, and optimization to simulate human cognitive functions and improve its performance over time. In the process of work, a radiological engineer acquires images representing a large set of data available in digital form, making it an ideal domain for the application of artificial intelligence. Purpose: The purpose of this integrative literature review is to present how artificial intelligence is transforming diagnostic radiology and what impact it has on the work of radiological engineers. Methods: Bases of data PubMed and ScienceDirect were reviewed using a search query formulated based on the set objective. The final literature review included 16 studies. Results: We found that the majority of participants recognize the potential of artificial intelligence to enhance the quality and efficiency of work in radiology, especially in the context of radiation dose optimization, quality control, and diagnostic improvement. However, concerns remain regarding the impact of artificial intelligence on professional roles, education, data security, and potential job loss. Discussion and conclusion: The future of artificial intelligence in radiology will depend on a coordinated approach that enables the improvement of service quality, ensures data security, and maintains a significant human role in the medical process. It is important to develop appropriate education programs for healthcare workers that will facilitate the effective use of artificial intelligence and prevent potential negative consequences, such as fear of job loss or lack of trust in the technology.
