Abstract

Title:The economy of Mežiška valley between 1938 and 1945
Abstract:
A good economy is of fundamental importance for every country, only so can a country develop and offer good living conditions. By reviewing the economic activity within the Mežiška valley during World War II, we learned that the Germans were economically active in this area even before the occupation in 1941. They had employees in high positions within the most important companies, i.e., the Steel factory in Ravne and the lead and zinc mine in Mežica. The German state emphasized the development of the war industry and invested the most capital in it while at the same time exploiting all available natural resources and labor, including in the form of forced labor.
