Abstract

Title:Cybersecurity needs of the Slovenian population - analysis of a selected sample
Abstract:
The thesis addresses the issue of threats in cyberspace and the impact of certain individual characteristics on one's cybersecurity. The aim of the work is to explore the field of cybersecurity, describe the fundamental concepts, threats, and protection methods. The thesis identifies the most common causes of cyber-attacks and consequently the greatest risks based on the types of attacks. At the same time, the purpose of the work is to determine whether there is an influence of gender, age, and education on the cybersecurity of Slovenian residents, and what that influence is. The aim was achieved using descriptive and comparative research methods, as well as a quantitative research method in the form of a survey questionnaire. For the analysis and graphical presentation of the quantitative research results, Excel and SPSS programs were used. It was found that men, on average, demonstrate a slightly higher level of cybersecurity and related skills compared to women. It was also found that a higher level of education contributes to some extent to higher individual cybersecurity, and that age does not play a significant role in this area. It was also found that the most common type of cyber threat is phishing, and that the most common reason for cyber-attacks is financial gain. The work contributes to a deeper understanding of the addressed issue and defines the characteristics and behavioural patterns of a cyber-secure individual. It also provides foundations for the development of public policies that would help raise cybersecurity in the country. The thesis can also serve as a starting point for further research into factors that influence an individual's cybersecurity.
