Abstract

Title:Development of pattern cuts for dancers' robe according to zero waste principle
Abstract:
The diploma thesis focuses on the development of the pattern cut and pattern marker of a dancer's robe, based on the zero-waste principle. The main goal was to develop pattern cut parts for a women's robe for standard and Latin American dancers, which would result in a very small amount of textile waste in the cutting process and thus reduce the negative impact of the fashion industry on the environment. In the theoretical part, we investigated clothes for dancers, the development of basic pattern cuts of clothes in different construction systems, the preparation of pattern cuts for the tailoring process and the preparation of pattern marker. We also researched sustainable fashion and existing methods of simultaneous design of clothes, development of their pattern cuts and pattern cut image according to zero waste principle. In the experimental part, we developed the pattern cuts, and the pattern marker for the dance robe, using the mentioned method of zero-waste principle. We have developed a pattern cut of the robe that optimally utilizes almost the entire surface of the selected textile and at the same time ensures the functionality of the robe. The results of the research showed that it is possible to create functional clothing for dancers by creating a smaller amount of textile waste. We proved that the method of simultaneous design of clothes, development of their pattern cuts and pattern marker according to the zero-waste principle, could be successfully integrated in the process of developing new clothes for the specific needs of users. The thesis contributes to the understanding and development of sustainable practices in the fashion industry and offers practical solutions to reduce the environmental impact of clothing production.
