In the thesis, we have prepared a copper(I) chloro complex with a sterically large imidazolium NHC ligand based on similar complexes known from the literature. We started from 4-tert-butylbromobenzene as the basis for the synthesis of the complex ligand. First, we prepared bis(4-(tert-butyl)phenyl)methanol, which was then used for the synthesis of 2,6 bis[bis(4-tert-butylphenyl)methyl]-4-methylaniline. This compound was further converted to 1,3-bis[2,6-bis[bis(4-tert-butylphenyl)methyl]-4-methylphenyl)imidazolium chloride, which served as a ligand for the preparation of the copper(I) chloride complex (IPr**)CuCl. All compounds were characterized by $^1$H NMR, MS and IR spectroscopy and their melting point was determined.
