Abstract

Title:Hydrothermal synthesis and characterisation of SnO$_2$ particles
Abstract:
In the work, the hydrothermal synthesis of SnO2 particles was carried out at different process parameters. The major part of the master's thesis was devoted to the analysis of the morphology of the precursor in the process (Na$_2$[Sn(OH)$_6$]) or the dependence of the morphology of the precursor on the synthesis conditions, to which three hypotheses were devoted, while the fourth related to the influence of hydrothermal conditions on the formation of the final product. The formation of SnO$_2$ was confirmed based on the solubility of the final product and agreement with existing literature; SEM images were also taken. The morphological characteristics of the precursor were analyzed using an optical microscope. A wide range of synthesis conditions were tested, on the basis of which the first three hypotheses were confirmed - it is very clear that even small differences in parameters can lead to a significant morphological deviation. Hypothesis number four was disproved, as it was shown that under the selected conditions the morphology of the precursor is not preserved in the final product.
